CONTEMPORARY CINDERELLA: Glider Recliner

March 7, 2011 – 00:00

Another item that has been very useful here at home is such a glider recliner, which for those unfamiliar is a mixture of such a daddy's chair with rocking chair. Actually, I think it is a reincarnation of this rocking chair used for centuries to lull babies. I remember that my grandmother had a home that was used by all the grandchildren, and followed her advice I bought my version moderninha.

In this aspect I confess that I gave up in favor of aesthetic comfort, since not much like mobile big guys. But our chair is leather, supremacy and practice and is in our room, more escondidinha.

In the first weeks of life of our little I practically lived in this chair because I refused to put him to sleep away from me, so these times we really need a mobile and comfortable, for no one can withstand spend hours dying from back pain.

We have a another chair more compact and therefore much less used room in Joaquim, but that is in our room really is a thousand times better. The room is used when we tell him stories or read to him, but at bedtime, we all go to our room.

Every night our ritual is the same: in the bath tub with tummy Products Sleepy Time Johnson, bottle, rocking chair (glider recliner), classical music and opera in Ipod and goodnight, Joaquim!

Rocker or Glider suggestions, anyone?

I'm starting to make my registry, and even though I don't really want to have a bunch of really big items on there, the 10% discount in the end will be nice if I need to still get a few things, like a rocking chair. I've even fudged my due date so I can use the discount earlier.
I'm in love with the ones at Pottery Barn Kids, but they are $650 + the cost of the slip cover. Ouch!
I've used the glider kind that looks more like a "rocking chair" and had padded arms, but they seem to peter out and squeek or get uncomfortable eventually.

Nursing twins, any suggestions?

Due May 15 and looking for advice nursing boy/girl twins.
Basic things like rocking chairs seem more complicated with twins. Do the regular Dutalier glider/rockers cut it when nursing two? Or are lazy-boys the way to go?
How do you pick each one up w/out someone handing them to you each time?
Do you nurse one at a time? Let the other go hungry until finished?
All help is appreciated!

When DD was new, I never used the glider but instead BF her on the couch or in our comfy oversize chair. But the glider came in handy for rocking her to sleep as she got a little older - several months old, maybe? - and it's become a nice porch chair for hanging out with DD now that she's big. I figured I'll BF the new baby in the glider on the porch, which will be a nice shady spot during the heat of late summer and early fall.
But there are many other chairs/counches that are good for nursing; the key thing is to place a small stool under the chair/couch you're sitting on to support your feet, knees, and back

Trust me -- the glider & ottoman is so worth it

My extraordinarily generous mom and sister splurged for a spendy glider and ottoman for me, and i'm SOOOOO glad they did. i've lived in that thing for the last year and a half.
after much deliberation and sitting in every one at the store several times, i got a dutalier (or however you spell it) that locks into a still position, and many's the time after my c-section that i blessed that lock. i was so unsteady and in such pain and had such a hard time getting up and down while holding the baby that it was a huge help to be able to make the rocker stay still so it was a stable support
